Coniogramme emeiensis ‘Golden Zebra’ is a rare and visually striking fern native to East Asia, particularly China’s Mount Emei region. Belonging to the Pteridaceae family, this deciduous fern is prized for its ornamental foliage — long, arching fronds decorated with vivid golden-yellow stripes that run parallel along each leaflet, resembling zebra stripes.

It grows well in shaded or semi-shaded areas with consistently moist, well-draining soil. The plant prefers high humidity and protection from direct sun, making it ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a potted specimen indoors. With a typical height of 30–60 cm, it adds texture and tropical charm to any green space.

Though not commonly found in mainstream nurseries, Golden Zebra is a collector’s favorite and adds a touch of the exotic to fern collections and landscape designs.

Care:

  • Light: Prefers shade to partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate striped fronds.
  • Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top layer feels slightly dry. Do not let the soil dry out completely.
  • Humidity: Loves high humidity. Mist regularly or place near a humidifier, especially in dry indoor environments.
