Ctenanthe burle-marxii is a compact houseplant that makes a bold tropical statement. Its bright green leaves are striped with alternating lance-shaped bands, and have deep purple undersides and stems. Ctenanthe (along with their close relatives Calatheas and Marantas) are commonly called "Prayer Plants" because their leaves lie flat by day, but fold upwards in the evenings. Ctenanthe burle-marxii is nicknamed the "Fishbone Prayer Plant" due to the unique leaf pattern.
approx height: 20~25cm
pot diameter: 12cm
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Will tolerate some degree of shade; however insufficient light may cause loss of variegation in the leaves. Too much light on the other hand will cause the leaves to fade.
- Water: Keep soil moist at all times. Allow the top of the soil to dry out slightly before watering.
- Humidity: High humidity levels are an advantage. Stand on a wet pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently.
